Bogey or Better – This program showcases local golfers as the challenge host Ellen Pearce to nine holes of golf as they attempt to shoot bogey or better to beat Ellen’s score and win prizes. Now in its third season, Bogey or Better has taped at a number of golf courses throughout the area. Male or female golfers, of any age, are invited to participate in the show. Anyone interested in challenging Ellen should e-mail the studio at mca-tv@moontwp.com. This show is co-produced by Township residents Ellen Pearce and Jan Gorr.
Character Builders – This is a children-oriented show, produced by the First Assembly of God in Coraopolis. This program features a friendly puppet named Cory who learns lessons about character through songs, rhymes and games.
Core Conditioning – One of MCA-TV’s workout shows, this is a Pilates-based exercise program designed to strengthen and condition the body’s core muscles. This program is produced by Township resident Judy Elias.
Dave World – Watch local musician David Granati as plays music and gives viewers an entertaining 30-minute guitar lesson. David is a teacher at the Lincoln Park Performing Arts School in Midland and a member of “G-Force,” a Pittsburgh-based band. This program typically features other local performers. This show is produced by Township resident Jim Koepfinger.
The Doctor is In – This award-winning show is produced quarterly and presents complex medical issues in such a way that the average person can fully understand. During each episode, host Dr. Marc Schneiderman poses a medical ethics question to guest Dr. Robert Skovira, of Robert Morris University. This program is produced by Township resident Dr. Marc Schneiderman.
Mrs. Rogers Computer Lab – This program, which teaches Web site redesign, is hosted by Cathy Rogers, a computer consultant and former high school computer teacher. Cathy guides viewers through a step-by-step process as she teaches them a variety of computer applications, including file formats, managing files, using Microsoft PowerPoint to create a multimedia presentation, obtaining a domain name and web space, using Microsoft FrontPage to build a Web site, e-commerce and many more. This show is produced by Township resident Cathy Rogers.
Mrs. Rogers Computer Lab EASY – This program is designed for viewers with little or no experience using computers and slowly takes them through the basic steps to understanding how a computer works and how to navigate the World Wide Web. This program is hosted by Cathy Rogers and includes lessons on topics such as customizing your computer’s desktop, managing files, basic word processing with Microsoft Word, selecting and Internet service provider, searching for information on the Web, buying and selling on Ebay and many more. This show is produced by Township resident Cathy Rogers.
On the Town Live – This show – written, directed and hosted by Mark Ray and Keith Haggerty – is a review program that also covers entertainment around the Pittsburgh area. This program is produced by Township resident Mark Ray.
The Political Process This show was created by former radio news reporter Shannon Debes to provide viewers with the opportunity to hear first-hand from public officials, government experts and citizen advocates who participate in the process of creating and shaping our community. The show also aims to take complex issues and break them down in a manner that is consumable, useable, and interesting. Shows have focused on topics such as Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC), legislature reduction, candidate forums, immigration reform and Mooncrest's quest for revitalization.
Public Awareness Weekend - This is MCA-TV's live television weekend, where non-profit organizations are invited to participate in thirty-minute interview segments and talk about their organization. This event is usually held in March.
Senior Workout – This show is hosted by Linda Francis, one of MCA-TV’s longest tenured volunteers, and features a group of senior citizens engaging in a low-impact aerobics routine. This program is produced by Township resident Linda Francis.
Stay Fit – This show features a high-impact aerobics routine, lead by co-hosts Sarah Fisher and Carrie Davis. This is a jam-packed, intense 30-minute workout that uses a variety of techniques and equipment each month. This show is produced by Township resident Carrie Davis.
Moon Area School District Board Meetings – The Board of Directors monthly voting meeting, which takes place on the last Thursday of each month, is recorded and shown on MCA-TV the following morning and several times throughout the month.
Moon Area Sports – MCA-TV airs a variety of Moon sporting events, most of which are recorded by community volunteers. Sports that are shown throughout the year include: Moon High School Football, Varsity Soccer, Girls and Boys Varsity Basketball, Youth Football, Youth Soccer and Swimming.
Additional Sports Programming – Over the course of the past few years, MCA-TV has also aired sports programming from other Moon Township schools, including Our Lady of the Sacred Heart and Robert Morris University.
Army Newswatch – This is an award-winning newscast produced by Soldiers Radio and Television and showcases members of the Army, from the offices in the Pentagon to the soldiers in the field.
Capitol Report – This is a federal-level government talk show hosted by Congressman Tim Murphy.
Capitol Connection – This is a political talk show hosted by Bill Longworth and produced by the Senate Video Facility.
Focus on Pennsylvania – This program, which is produced monthly, is a public affairs program focusing on a variety of Pennsylvania’s fascinating aspects.
Legislative Report – This show, which features Representative Mark Mustio, covers lawmaking issues and delivers reports on current issues affecting Pennsylvania.
Moon Township Board of Supervisors – These meetings, held on the first Wednesday of each month, are aired lived from the Township’s Municipal Building. The meetings are aired the following day and throughout the month.
Moon Township Government Review – Hosted by Sarah Vaccarelli, this is a monthly program dedicated to the municipal government of Moon Township. This show features interviews with local politicians, Township officials and staff and other local personalities.
The Pippy Report – On this program, host Senator John Pippy reports on current legislative activities and programs available to Commonwealth residents.
Robert Morris University Programs
America Talks - Following the September 11, 2005 terrorist attacks, 25 Robert Morris University students produced an award-winning documentary focusing on Americans’ reactions to the attacks. Their journeys brought them to all three plane crash sites – Shanksville, PA; Washington, D.C.; and Manhattan, N.Y. The documentary is a combination of historical and emotional accounts of what people were thinking and saying at the time.
Automated Health Systems – Corporate Health Challenge - The story of how one company is striving to help its employees live happier and healthier lives.
Behind the Scenes of CSC - A program, produced and edited by Scott Golmic, that takes a detailed looks behind the scenes of the popular program “Colonial Sports Center.”
Beyond Our Shadow - Six months after the September 11 attacks, three Robert Morris University seniors traveled to London and Dublin to get an international reaction. Their findings were rather surprising.
Campus Stories - A 30-minute show that highlights Robert Morris University’s most interesting and intriguing individuals.
Chasing History - Produced and edited by RMU student Brian Tirpak and Scott Golmic, “Chasing History” follows the women’s basketball team as they prepare for their first-round match up against NC State in the 2007 NCAA tournament.
Colonial Sports Center - An award-winning, 30 minute sports news show primarily focusing on campus athletic teams. This program includes everything from highlights to interviews with coaches and everything else related to RMU sports.
Documentary Exchange: Dortmund 2005 - Three stories that were written, taped and produced by Robert Morris University students through an exchange program with the University of Applied Sciences in Dortmund, Germany. Includes “BVB Spirit,” “Therion,” and “On the Way…”
Documentary Exchange: Istanbul 2005 - Three stories that were written, taped and produced by Robert Morris University students through an exchange program with Bahcesehir University in Istanbul, Turkey. Includes “18 Days in Instanbul,” “Diary of Duygu,” and “Smoky Misconceptions.”
Football and Basketball - RMU students record all home football and basketball games, including play-by-play announcement and sideline commentary.
Foundations for Success: The Robert Morris Story - A brief, charming history of Robert Morris’ humble beginnings in Moon Township in 1921 through its transformation into one of Western Pennsylvania’s great universities.
History of RMU - A program that documents the history of Robert Morris University between 1920 and 2006.
Portrait of a Campaign - A behind-the-scenes documentary of the 2003 race for Allegheny County Chief Executive.
RMU Live - A 20-minute newscast featuring breaking news from campus, local communities, the world and nation.
RMU Tonight - A 30-minute “late-night” entertainment show, with a lighthearted attitude, that humorous local and national stories.
That’s Amore! The 10th Annual Dean Martin Festival - A program that documents the funky and delightful festival that takes place in Steubenville, Ohio annually.
The Baluh Boys - This program documents the untold story of three brothers killed in World War II through the eyes of their niece, who grew up knowing only the story the photographs told. After viewing the blockbuster hit, “Saving Private Ryan,” she was motivated to uncover the details of their early live and untimely deaths.
Treasury Series - A program that documents the creative work produced by Media Arts students.
