More than 30 Organizations Slated for Public Awareness Weekend Lineup
This month, Moon Community Access Television will spotlight more than 30 nonprofit organizations in 20 hours of live television over the course of its 14th annual Public Awareness Weekend.
MCA-TV’s Public Awareness Weekend 2012 airs live at 1 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 23, and continues from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, March 24, from the MCA-TV studio, located at 1700 Beaver Grade Road in Moon Township. The live television events airs locally on MCA-TV, Comcast channel 14 and Verizon FiOS channel 35 to viewers in Moon Township and neighboring communities.
During Public Awareness Weekend, MCA-TV invites nonprofit organizations into the studio to promote their cause during a 30-minute interview on live television. More than 30 organizations – from the American Red Cross Southwestern Pennsylvania Chapter to the Beaver County Humane Society – are slated to take part in this year’s lineup.
“PAW provides an outlet for nonprofits to recruit volunteers and spread the word about the programs and services that they offer in the community,” said Jim Koepfinger, executive director of MCA-TV. “Volunteers have played a major role in MCA-TV’s success for more than 25 years, and Public Awareness Weekend is our opportunity to support other volunteer-driven organizations in our area.”
Throughout the weekend, MCA-TV hosts a number of volunteers and guests both on and off camera. Behind the scenes, MCA-TV’s crew of volunteers will have the chance to put their television production skills to the test during the fast-paced atmosphere of live television. As a volunteer-driven community television station, the majority of MCA-TV programs are produced by Moon Township residents.
